All that is needed is to expand BPL availability. There would be almost no infrastructure costs and it could be done much sooner than 10 years. This type of broadband would be available to anyone that gets electricity which should include some 99% of the people in this country.

One significant difference is that for the most part whatever money is raised for Chile will be put to good use while much of the money raised for Haiti will disappear down the usual rat hole.

This situation is so totally ass backwards. It is ABC who should be paying Cablevision to carry their programming, not the other way around. After all, it is ABC that benefits from the advertising dollars that are reaped due to the increased viewership.

One more comment regarding the best picture category. This year there are 10 pictures up for the Oscar and some of them shouldn’t have been considered. They, however, needed to come up with 10 pictures hence the undeserving ones were included.
Which film didn't deserve best picture nomination?
